Son of Jeremiah Seaton and Nancy Neal Seaton. Born in Killegarden Co., Donegal, Ireland. Thomas changed the spelling to Seetin when they came to America. But his brother Samuel kept the spelling Seaton. One source said he married Sarah Mcgee about 1835 in Ireland. Another one said he was married in 1840 in Stephenson, ill. She was the daughter of Thomas McGee and Margaret Stewart. Obituary Sept 1863 Lawrence, Douglas Co., Kansas Death of a Venerable Pioneer We learned this morning by Mr. Jacob McGee of the death of the venerable Thomas Seetin, which occurred at his residence near the old town site of Franklin, this morning at 4 o'clock. Mr. Seetin was born in County Donegal, Ireland, in 1811, and immigrated to Washington county, Ohio, 1836, residing there twelve years, thence removing to Stevenson county, Ill., and from there he came to Kansas in the spring of 1855; coming in the same company with his brother-in-law, the well known and respected James McGee, who preceeded him to the Great Hereafter in 1877. Mr. Seetin was a most exemplary and worthy member of the Presbyterian church from early manhood. He was an active participant in the privations and struggles of the early days of Kansas, and was universally esteemed for his many good qualities. He leaves a wife and eight children who have the sincere sympathies of all who know them. The funeral services will be held at his late residence tomorrow at 10 o'clock, whence the remains will be taken to Oak Hill Cemetery.
