Thomas Shaw was born in Co. Wexford, Ireland in Dec. 1816. He came to Lansdowne, (now Leeds Co.), Ontario in 1820 at the age of 3 by his parents, William and Mary Waldron Shaw. His mother died on board ship. He grew up in he township of Escott and at age 21 he did military service in the rebellion of 1837 - 1838. He married Mary Davis on 26 Mar 1838 and bought an uncleared piece of land in Leeds Twp near Marble Rock in the wilderness. He gradually cleared it and bought more land and cleared it. He built a large wood house framed with 12" x 12" timbers in the walls, ceilings and floors, which still stands today. He died on his farm, where he lived for 60 years, on 29 Mar 1901. Thomas was my gg gf. The farm was passed on to his son Edward, (my g gf) and to Edward's son, Robert Bruce Shaw, known as Bruce.
