About Thomas Shields
Thomas Shields (1763-4 Mar 1797) m.1783 Rhoda. Thomas visited his cousins in Yadkin, NC, in 1780, enlisted and fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain. He spent the next two years exploring the Smoky Mountain region, including the Valley of the Little Pigeon. He was killed by Indians, in sight of his two young sons.
Thomas was first of "The Ten Brothers"
