About Thomas Simpson
GEDCOM Note
Thomas Simpson came with his parents to Boston. He attended school there for a few years but, prior to 1742, moved to Deerfield, Rockingham, New Hampshire. He was a farmer and surveyor and settled on the farm now owned by John W. Silver [as of 1878 -ed.]. He, with his younger brother Andrew, was elected by the people of Nottingham and Deerfield, to establish a line between the two towns. After Deerfield was set off, on January 8, 1766, he was chosen the first parish clerk of Deerfield, and retained the office until 1773, when he removed to Newbury, Orange Vermont, where he lived with his daughter, Susan Sanborn, until he died. His widow survived him about twenty years [White, p. 408].
