Thomas Stephens

Warning

Do not confuse with Thomas Stephens . While many resources claim that the Thomas who went to NC was a son of Richard Stephens, I have found no evidence that this is true. Furthermore, the recorded birthdate of 1674 is too late to allow at all for Thomas's first marriage and children by wife Jane.

It is therefore more likely that the Thomas who went south was an unrecorded son of another Stephens brother. Brother Nicholas himself went to North Carolina, so he would be the obvious choice.

I approve the merge now, for Stephens 1025 and 5882 but please use the information with the older birth and death date (Stephens-1025) as the other one is about 100 years later.

Before this can be done all the spouse's need to be merged, Caswell-856, Caswell-857 and Caswell-135 as clear duplicates first. I suggest 856 &amp; 857 be done first, then that one into 135
