Was storekeeper and Cabinetmaker; Rites on Tuesday
Thomas Watson Stiles, storekeeper and cabinetmaker, in Longview community died Sunday at his home. Sixty-one years old, he had been in declining health for about a year.
He was the son of the late Judson Jefferson Davis Stiles and Mrs. Ella Bates Stiles. He was born July 8, 1896, Macon County. He married the former Miss Dell Rogers, also of this county on January 12, 1916, who survives.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Longview Baptist Church. Mr. Stiles was a member of Longview Church and served as a deacon there for six years. Burial was in Coweeta cemetery. Officiating ministers were Rev. Andy Cloer and Rev. C.T. Taylor.
Pallbearers were Hayes Buchannan, Neville Buchanan, Fred Jones, Zeb Guffey, Robert Dowdle and Fred Stiles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, four daughters, four brothers, Henry, of Seattle, Washington, Orville of Reading, California, Claude of Brevard and George of Route 2. Five sister's, Mrs. Javan (May) Gray, of Route 2 Franklin, Mrs. Elmer (Hermie) Lawson of Everett, Washington, Mrs. Wade (Lela) Cunningham of Franklin Mrs. Sadie Penland, of Nehalem, Oregon, and Mrs. John (Helen) Rogers, of Brevard, and 18 grandchildren.
