Tom and wife were expecting their fourth child when he was a victim of mistaken identity and killed.

Tom Tyner was killed by the Mounce gang of desperadoes.
The Mounces killed him at a point near Nettleton near daylight one morning as he was recruiting the fire at a log heap.
Wife Sarah died afterwards as a result of shock, fever and childbirth.
Her mother was with her at the time of her death and had her son Andy take her and the grandkids home to Tuscaloosa to live.
