About Thomas Walker
"Thomas left Ayre, Scotland, and went to Colney Hatch, England about 1619. In 1620 the London Company sent William Clayborne, a nephew of Mary, the wife of Abram Walker, to survey the territory adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay in order to hold it for the colony of Virginia. He asked his kinsman, Thomas Walker, to aid him in this work, and they came to Jamestown in that year. Lands were granted to Thomas Walker between the mouths of the Happahannock and York Rivers, where he established a plantation, and it was made into the Borough of Gloucester which he represented in the House of Burgesses of Virginia."
