In the 1860 U.S. Federal census for Dallas City, Henderson County, Illinois, Thomas Oliver Walker, 17, was living with his parents and siblings who were listed in the census as follows: William C. Walker, 53, Rachel, 47, John B., 24, William C., 22, Perry C., 19, Thomas O., 17, Hiram W., 13, Rachel E., 12, Clarissa, 19, and Charles, 1 year old. Clarissa may have also been the wife of either John of William and Charles may have been her son and not Rachel's.
William C. Walker was working as a wood dealer, and his sons John, William and Perry were all working as carpenters. William was born in Ohio, Rachel and John in Indiana, William C., Jr., in Missouri, Perry and all the others in California. William's real estate was valued at $1,200 and his personal estate at $700.
By 1880, Oliver's mother, Rachel, had passed away, and his father, William C., 73, was a widower living with his sons John B., 44, Charles, 21, Oliver T., 38, Hiram W., 34, William W., 21, a grandson, Margrett E., 17, a granddaughter, married daughter, Rachel Eva Bodey, 30, and her husband Henry W. Bodey, 30, and their two children, Henry W., 4, and Rachel C., 2 years old. William was a retired farmer, John and Charles, laborers, grandson William as a musician who had a crippled foot, and Henry Bodey was working as a blacksmith.
In the 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Chico Township, Butte County, California, 61 year old widowed Eva R. Bodey was living with her brother, Oliver Thomas Walker, 67. Rachel Eva Walker Bodey had given birth to 3 children. Oliver was single and working as a fruit farmer.
In the 1920 census for Chico, Eva R. Bodey was living with her married daughter, Rose E. Coker, 36, and her husband, Ray E. Coker, 36, and their son, Harry Ray, 15, and daughter, Alice Evelyn, 7, and also living with them was Eva's brother, Oliver Thomas Walker. Eva was listed as a widow and Oliver was single. Ray was working as salesman for an electric shop. Rose was working as a saleslady in a music store. Harry was working as a salesman in a shoe store. Oliver was working as a fruit rancher.
