About Thomas Walton, II
Not the same as Thomas Walton
Biography
'New York state flag' Thomas Walton II was a New Yorker.
Thomas, the son of Thomas Walton and Mary Lawrence was born in 1682.[1]
He married Mary Stillwell, the daughter of William and Hannah (Wilkins) Stillwell on 23 December 1698 in New York.[2]
This Thomas Walton did not have a second wife named Martha [see Research Note below].
According to Phillips, Thomas died without issue in 1737 at age fifty five years and is buried in the Jamaica Burying ground [See Also]. Phillips indicates his birth and death dates are from the Trinity Church Records and, therefore, correct and not those of Dickenson on his chart indicating 1674-1710.[3]
Research Note: Caution with Another Thomas Walton
Some genealogists appear to conflate Thomas, the son Thomas and Mary (Lawrence) Walton-Smith with another Thomas Walton who has a will on record in King's County, Long Island dated 19 August 1728. This Thomas Walton had a wife, Martha Grover, and six children: Thomas, Richard, Mathew, William, John and Martha. These are two different Thomas Walton families, although they may have been relatives.[4]This conflated information for Thomas Walton is also presented in Stillwell.[5]
