public profile
Thomas West moved, with his wife Elizabeth, by certificate, from North Kingston, RI, to Newport, RI on 14 May 1753. He married Amey Colgrove, before 13 Sep 1756. On 13 Sep 1756 he and his wife Amey were accepted into membership of the Sabbatarian Church in Newport, Rhode Island. The identification of the mother of the first child Jonathan has not been made. Thomas West and family moved to Hopkinton, Rhode Island about 1758. In the 1774 census for Hopkinton he was head of household of 2 males, 5 young males, 2 females and 1 young female, which is consistent with the recorded births. He moved with his family after the Revolution to Vershire, VT, but most of his family continued to move west. We have found no probate for Thomas in Vermont, although there are transfers of land by him to his sons.
