Thomas Yates left Kentucky in 1818, at the age of 7, with his parents . They settled in St. Louis, then went to Callaway Co., MO. for a tim e.

Thomas buys land in Indian Creek on 8 August 1832. This land was 80 a cres located immediately east of Indian Creek, which at that time wa s part of a farm owned by Vincent Yates.

Thomas also bought two 40 acre pieces of land, about 1/2 mile NE of In dian Creek. These were bought on 4 January and 16 July 1836.

His tombstone simply reads: Thomas Yates Jan 23, 1811. Oct. 8, 1894 . It is located in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Indian Creek, MO.
