In will book K, page 457 is the list of sales of Tilmon Hufman's estate,

filed 25 January 1827 Unfortunately the other estate items are all in book L,

which is among the missing.

Nothing here shows whether Benjamin came back to Virginia at a later time. I

did run the Culpeper grantor book to 1900 and found nothing further on

Note spelling of Tillman HUFFMAN as Tilmon HUFMAN. Not significant

Other records show that Tillman/Tilmon had a 9th child, Joseph. Tillman's

1826 deed to his children does not reflect a Joseph, nor any children of

Joseph. It is presumed that Joseph died before 1826 when Tillman wrote his

Will. I have Joseph married to Frances PAINE on 19 Jul 1791 in Culpeper Co.,

VA.

Tillman died between 13 May 1826 (will signed) and 25 January 1827 (estate

sale). Some report a 25 Aug 1827 death date. This has to be in error.

The 1826 deed of Tillman/Tilmon to his 8 children including Benjamin HUFMAN

of KY, and the 1829 sale by Benjamin HUFFMAN of Green Co., IL to brother,

John HUFFMAN, of Benjamin's share of the Culpeper property legacy, connect

the Benjamin of Green Co., IL (tax record and census) as a son of

Tillman/Tilmon. Up to this time the connection has been tenuous.

It was thought that Charles HUFFMAN had left Culpeper Co., VA for KY in 1821.

This record shows him in Culpeper Co., VA in May 1826.

There is no info concerning Margaret (Williams)(Freemen) HUFFMAN, the second

wife of Tillman. She may have predeceased him.

The value of these documents to me is to prove the whereabouts of Benjamin

over time (KY and IL) and to conclusively prove him as a son of Tillman

HUFFMAN of Culpeper Co., VA.

The problem remains as to what became of Benjamin after the USC 1830 IL,

Green Co.
