About Timothy Andrews

From Genealogical history of John and Mary Andrews, who settled in Farmington, Conn.

Timothy Andrews, third son of Joseph and Susannah, born 23rd February 1717, married 9th September, 1736, Thankful Hunn, who died 19th April 1749 ; she was a member of Newington church, 1747 ; when second, he married 15th June 1749, Sarah Hurlbert. She was made executrix to her husband's estate, by his will made 1765. Thankful, his first wife, was daughter of Samuel Hunn, of Wethersfield, and Sarah Dix, his wife; Thankful was born 24th June 1716. He was a soldier in the French war of 1755, and was disabled, so that he drew a gratuity from the State, of £20, in 1763. It is thought he lived in Newington at this time, for Dr. Wells, of Kensington, was one who certified to his disability, and Dr. Porter, of Wethersfield, and Col. Lee, of New Britain. (See War record in State archives.) August 21st 1754, he sold to James Francis, of Wethersfield, for £600 currency, 50 acres of land, in Canaan, Conn., and 5th Nov., 1764, he deeded to his son, Benjamin, for love, seven acres, it being part of my home lot, on which I now dwell, on the north side, with one-half my dwelling-house, viz., the south end, with one-half the cellar and well, and one-half my barn, the south end, with necessary yarding thereto. This son, Benjamin, subsequently removed to Glastenbury, where he died. The father, Timothy, died 30th May 1765, aged 48 years, three months, seven days. The other half of his home was given by his will to his son Samuel, 1765.
