About Timothy Ring
Irish Republican and member of Cumann na mBan Rosalie Rice was Timothy Ring's cousin. When the Easter Rising began in 1916, Rosalie sent a telegram to her cousins, who worked at Valentia Island Cable Station, that said,
"Mother operated on successfully today"
This message meant that the rising had begun. After this, Timothy and his brother informed John Devoy in New York that the rising had begun.
After the Rising Timothy was held in Frongoch Camp in Wales. General Maxwell called him a "disloyal and dangerous man" and said that he should not be able to return to Ireland.
