The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the
Medal of Honor
to Coxswain Timothy Sullivan, United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving on board the U.S.S. Louisville during various actions of that vessel. During the engagements of the Louisville, Coxswain Sullivan served as first Captain of a 9-inch gun and throughout his period of service was especially commended for his attention to duty, bravery, and coolness in action.
