Gumaer 1771-1869," which mentions his grandfather Peter Gumaer, who married Charity DeWitt and HIS father Pierre Guimar and his wife Esther Hasbrouck. It's a fascinating little book containing excerpts from the day book of the young Peter, who was involved in many enterprises in the Peenpack area during his lifetime. !"Roots & Branches" by Wardle, pg. 146 says she was b. about 1659 in Albany, NY. She was carried off by Indians when she was about 4 yrs. old, but was rescued. Marriage: In 1677 she m. Matthys MATTHYSSEN, s/o Matthys JANSEN and Margaret HENDRICKS, but Harold MONTGOMERY says his name is Matthys Matthyson VAN KEUREN (Doc. #1181 & 1507). Douglas VAN CUREN of Boise, ID says that the VAN KEUREN children abandoned their surname in favor of MATTHYSSEN for reasons unknown (Doc. #1669). Family: The names, b. dates, spouses, and d. dates of her 13 children are found in GS submitted by Sarah H. BLACK of SLC, UT (Doc. #1180). But FGR of Douglas VAN CUREN of Boise, ID says the couple only has 12 children and Klaese and Nicholas are one and the same person (Doc. #1667).
