About Tony Newman
Suicide --overdose of pills.
Tony was the eldest in his generation. He had an extremely unhappy childhood, abused by his mother psyhcologically as well as physically. He went to Occidental College. He was a record executive in "A and R" at Capitol records. He was also a semiprofessional photographer, and worked in television and in the advertising business as well I believe. (Alan Newman writing this).
His first marriage ended in divorce and total separation from his son. At the end of his life he lived in Malibu. Many personal and career reverses, and alcohol and drug problems plagued him.
- Tony allowed his son, Jeffrey, to be adopted by his ex-wife, Frankie's husband. We were told that Tony, "giving up his son" was a big issue for Al and the rest of the brothers - "Al's 1st grandchild". (*Carroll Newman)
