About Tore Hermundson Vigerust
Tore Vigerust's father's ancestry is from Gudbrandsdalen and his mother's ancestry is from Schleswig-Holstein. Vigerust was a trained as an officer and served in the Army from 1975; he became cand.philol. in 1991 with history major at the University of Oslo. His specialty was genealogy, monastery history and the history of the nobility. Tore Vigerust wrote a series of family history works, published family history writings, held regular lectures and arranged meetings and the like in genealogical associations. His themes were taken from several parts of the country and from all social classes. He worked extensively with the theme of Norwegian nobility, among other things in the so-called Adelsprosjektet, and also wrote about local and heraldic topics. Vigerust worked for a period in the Norwegian National Archives, and later became a self-employed person who undertook assignments. He was the genealogist behind the series Who do you think you are?, which was broadcast on NRK1 in 2011.
