http://landedestates.nuigalway.ie:8080/LandedEstates/jsp/property-s...: Colgagh House, Co. Sligo, where Travers Homan resided. The house was leased from the ffolliott estate.
In the Homan family pedigree, he is described as of "Colga [Sligo], and Dunegan, Westmeath." Dunegan was a Homan family property, originally granted in 1654 to Philip Branthwaite, whose daughter and heir Margery Branthwaite married Richard Homan. Dunegan is located north west of Moate, perhaps a mile and a half from the town. Travers Homan's brother Richard was living in Dunegan House when it was burned to the ground in 1826 by "Ribbonmen," poor rural Irish catholic agitators who fought against landlords. What was left of the building was dismantled and the materials used to build roads in the early 20th century. Travers Homan appears to have settled in Sligo after his marriage in 1800. All of his children were baptized at St. John, Sligo.
1800 married Catherine, daughter of William Barrett of Carnagrea and Culleenamore, Co. Sligo. Barrett was High Sheriff of Sligo in 1793
