About Trond Olsen Bustad

Jon Kolden, brev 18.12.1995: Faren, Ola Jakopson, skøyter i 1731 Guldbakke åt Torstein Nilsson Bøje. I staden får Ola Guldbakke Nørstegård, no fleire gardar Bakken i Skjåk. Konfirmert Lom, mini 1, s.54a, konf. 23. mai 1743, Trond Olsen Buestad. Død Lesja, mini 3, s.280, Gravlagt Foldalen 06.09.1789. Trond Bustad, 64 år. Skifte Gudbrandsdalen, Budstad i Foldalen, 10.02.1790 fol.250b. Avdød Tron Olsen (O-246), enke Barbro Larsd. (O-247), brutto 193-3-8 netto 128-1-23. Barn: 1: Lars (L-222) 33 år, 2: Ole 26 år, 3: Anders 21 år, 4: Tron 15 år, 5: Lisbet (L-221) g.m/Jørgen Stretlie (L-220), 6: Imbiør g.m/Amund Tollofsen, 7: Sigri 23 år, 8: Marit 18 år, 9: Ragnild (O-123) 12 år. Farm No. 114, Subdivision No. 1 BUSTAD

The first man to clear the land came from Bustad in Skajak and took this name in use at the place he was clearing. One might assume that the holding was leased in 1753, but is uncertain to whom it was done. In any case, it was one of the larger holdings with a lease of 2-3 rd. It might have been the Oppdal holding, No. 15, Ole Ellingson, the leaseholder, paying (taxes) of 2 ort. Ole is not mentioned in 1763 on the list of workers at the mine. He must be dead or moved from there. On the other hand, Trond Oleson Bustad is mentioned as a miner.

To start with the houses were located down by Folla, but the big flood (Ofsen) in 1789 made it clear tht it was safest to move farther up the slope, where the houses have stood until this day. The soil was easy to work and had a good location. The main road went right by the houses, therefore there was contact with all the traffic on it.

In each generation there were many, also strong, children. The daughters got married to men on the farms in Folldal and Alvdal. The sons moved away, and one can find a great many descendants in Sweden and America. In 1865 there were twenty people living on the farm. One hundred years later there are none left on the farm.

Gammel-Bustaden used to say: "The Bustad Family and Vehl-Anders-slekta (a gypsy family) are of the same size, they reach out over half of the world". Kilde: http://www.dxhansen.com/SS2Hansen-o/p4.htm#i200
