Death: Nov. 5, 1963 Roosevelt Duchesne County Utah, USA Second of six children born to Arzy Homer Mitchell and Fern Hacking Mitchell. His older sister died as a young child and his mother Fern died in 1925, leaving her husband to raise their five young children alone. Arzy married Fern's neice, Thora Colton, who made a wonderful step-mother for the young children.

Truman married Wilda Hancock on 9 August 1935 in Vernal. They had children: Terry, Howard, and Brenda Mitchell.
