Turner Ashby Graves, Jr

Turner Ashby Graves Jr., 91, of Syria, died on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at his residence.

He was born September 12, 1919, in Syria, and was the son of the late Turner Ashby Graves and Talmah Weikle Graves.

Mr. Graves was an orchard manager for R. S. Graves and Brothers in Syria. He was a member of Hebron Lutheran Church and a United States Army Air Corp Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lohr Graves of Syria; two daughters, Mary Talmah Hodge of West Point, Gerogia, and Candace Jane Graves of Charlottesville; two sons, Harry Franklin Graves and his wife, Nancy, of Richmond, and William Lohr Graves and his wife, Sharon, of New Windsor, Virginia; two brothers, Robert Preston Graves of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Richard Weikle Graves and his wife, Joey, of Vienna; a sister, Betty Lynn Yowell of Pratts; eight grandchildren, Turner Franklin Graves, Daniel Richard Graves, Stephanie Ann Graves, Margaret Kate O'Quinn, Samuel Graves Hodge, Emmett Joseph Graves, Avery Anna Graves and Audrea Elle Graves; and four great-grandchildren, Rowdy, Marvin, and Sterling Graves and Wyatt Hodge.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Hebron Lutheran Church, with interment at the church cemetery. Pastor Lillian Russell-Nicolai will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the interment at the Parrish Hall at the church.

Preddy Funeral Home, in Madison, is in charge of arrangements.
