About Uriah Avery

DENISON GENEALOGY, by E. Glenn Denison, Josephine Middleton Peck, Donald L. Jacobus, The Pequot Press, Inc. Stonington, CT, 1963. Page 15.

Uriah Avery of Hampton deeded to David Avery of Canterbury, land that he had of his honored father, Jonathan Avery. The census report of that year showed that his family consisted of six persons besides himself, but we have not been able to get any further information on this subject. Feb. 11, 1834, he was living at Norwich, Chenango Co., NY, from which place he applied for a pension which was allowed. He was in the battle of White Plains; served on the ship "Warren" that cruised to the West Indies and took two prizes (Application for Pension, No. 32, 627, Inv.).

There was a Uriah Avery in the French and Indian war, 1756, who has not been identified.
