Valentine Wightman Rathbone was the son of Samuel Rathbone and Lydia Sparhawk. His name, Valentine Wightman, was very common in the extended Rathbone family.
He was the brother of Jared Lewis Rathbone (1791-1845) FAG#11689392 and Joel Rathbone (1806-1863) FAG#81469895.
He was a wholesale grocer at the corner of Hudson Ave and Quay Streets in Albany.
His family relocated for a time to Rochester, NY.
Also the father of General John Finley Rathbone (see FAG#11665399).
Valentine's death place is unknown.
Buried in Lot 34 Sec 60 owned by his sons, John F. and Lewis Rathbone. Due to his death date of 1833, which is before the establishment of Albany Rural, his remains must have originally been elsewhere.
His Albany Rural Cemetery Records say only "V. W. Rathbone lot 34 sec 60."
