Valentine Sargent

Valentine Sargent, son of Samuel Sargent and Betsey Winchester, was b. on Oct. 10, 1810 in Hill, New Hampshire. He m. 1st with PHEBE NOYES, she d. in 1838 and he m. 2nd with MERCY FOLLANSBEE. She was b. Mar. 4,1824. They lived for a time in (1846-1850) in Vermont. By 1850 they returned to Hill. They rem. to Franklin, NH about 1865, where they settled. He d. in Franklin, NH on Oct. 12,1890 from heart disease. He was a farmer.

Children by Phebe: Rosette H. (1832), Hannah H. (1834), and John (3/1838).

Children by Mercy: J. Langdon (8/8/1842), Samuel (1/1/1846), Augusta (11/5/1849), Eliza (9/26/1852), and Frank (2/17/1856).

• 1850 census: Valantine (39) and M.A. (Mercy; aged 26) in Hill, NH w ch. R.H. (Rosetta, aged 17), H.H. (Hannah, aged 16), J.L.H. (J. Langdon, aged 7), Saml D. (4), and A.A. (Augusta, aged 1). Also living there is his father Samuel (70). He is a farmer.
