About Valma Merle Day
Val was baptized at her parents residence in Commercial St., Merbein by Methodist minister Rev . D. Evan Hodge, in Nov. 1930. She had been the first of her siblings to be born in the new hospital in Merbein-they having been born at home. Val had a happy childhood in a large close-knit family. Many relatives lived near-by and her life was secure and safe. The family was musical and Val played the harmonica by ear from a very young age.She was the only girl in a mouth organ band, run by her father, that played in local charitable concerts etc. Val's profile photograph was taken at her Silver Wedding Anniversary function at the Keysborough Hall in 1970. Phil died after they had been married for 66 very happy years.
