About Varine Seegmiller

Varine Felt Seegmiller passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on Monday, February 23, 2009. She was born June 20, 1914, in the home her parents, Joseph Harold and Violetta Maria Nott Felt, had built in Salt Lake City. Her mother wanted to name her "Maurine" but her father insisted that her name start with a "V" so that her mother's monogrammed belongings could be handed down. Hence, the name Varine was derived. Her family moved to Ogden when she was young and there she completed her schooling, graduating from Ogden High School. On September 25, 1937, she married Earl Kenward Seegmiller. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

In 1947, they moved to Brigham City, Utah, where Earl owned and operated Earl's Food Fare and later on, Earl's AG. Varine's two brothers, Harold Felt and J. Gordon Felt also settled in Brigham City. Both brothers preceded her in death. After her sons were grown she became the office manager of the Brigham Medical Clinic for her brother, Dr. Felt. When Earl retired they moved to Orem to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Earl passed away in 1997.

Varine is survived by her three sons: Ken (Beverly), Midvale, UT; Robert (Barbara), Saratoga Springs, Utah; Don (Barbara) Mapleton, Utah; 25 grandchildren and 57 great-grand-children. She is also survived by her three sisters-in-law: Helen Felt, Norma Bingham, and Melba Blair. Varine was blessed with the ability to make friends easily and lived life to the fullest. She served her family, her community, and her church unselfishly. Her grandchildren adored her and she spent her last years busily knitting hats for them.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 1st Ward Chapel, 236 East 100 South, Brigham City, Utah, with a viewing starting at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
