Vaughn Prepok (1987 - 2006)

Brief overview:

Vaughn (19), was attacked walking home from a club late at night and his neck slit in the street, Horwood Avenue Edenvale on 13th December 2006. He had been walking home after a visit to a nightclub, following his shift as a part-time barman. Vaughn was found on a road at about 4.30am near his parents' home. His cellphone and shoes were missing.

Superintendent Eugene Opperman said the teenager was stabbed in his throat. The motive of the murder was unknown.

  • Guiseppe Avallone (19), appeared for a second time in the Germiston magistrate's court in connection with the murder of Vaughn Prepok (19), on December 13th 2006. According to Germiston's control prosecutor, John Wilson, police had recovered a murder weapon - a butcher's knife - which would be sent for forensic analysis. The knife was recovered on the day that the teenager was arrested at the sports bar where he worked. Wilson said the teenager's father had told him that he suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and had displayed the illness from a young age. He also apparently spent time in a mental hospital in 2003.
