About Verda Corwin

From the Observer-Reporter, Washington County, Pennsylvania, Monday, November 15, 1976:

"Verda Rose Corwin, 81, of Wayneburg, R.D. 3, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 1976, in the Bristor's Guest Home, 1010 East High Street, Waynesburg. She had been in failing health for the past eight years.

Mrs. Corwin was born April 23, 1895, in Perry Township, a daughter of the late H. Hudson and Cassie Ellen Lemley Rose. Her husband, Thomas L. Corwin, died July 16, 1954.

She had been employed by Waynesburg College as a cook at Benedum Hall for several years. She lived in Waynesburg and in Greene County all of her life. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Waynesburg.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Woodrow (Marjorie) Huffman of Waynesburg, R.D. 3, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Doris Coss of Waynesburg and Mrs. Charles J. (Ruth) Matakovich of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ida Mooney of Waynesburg, R.D. 3.

Two sons, Robert and Jack, a sister, Mrs. Viona Fox and two brothers, Gurnie C. and Ira Rose, are all deceased."
