Verda Arlene Troyer

Kalona- Verda Arlene Troyer was born December 2, 1925 in Shickley, Nebraska the daughter of Lloyd and Emma (Kennel) Troyer. When she was 14 her family moved to Wellman, she graduated from the Wellman High School in 1944. Verda worked at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in the Dietary department for 39 years before retiring. She was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church. Verda enjoyed traveling, going to Florida for a month in February, reading, crocheting, bowling, playing cards, watching the Hawkeyes and spending time with family and friends. Verda passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona at the age of 90 years.

Verda is survived by a sister Alta Troyer of Kalona; a sister-in-law Vivian Troyer of Wellman, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters: Nettie Fehlberg, Della Yoder, Ida Kliewer and Wilma Becker; four brothers: Ivan , Warren, Lloyd and Wilbur Troyer.

Celebration Of Life Service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman. Pastor Nathan Ramer will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 11, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Wellman Mennonite Church and Pleasantview Home.
