Verna E. Henry June 4, 2011 Lewistown Sentinel Save | LEWISTOWN - Verna E. Henry, 91, formerly of Milroy, died at 9:25 a.m., on June 3, 2011, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.

Born on Dec. 22, 1919, in Lewistown, Verna was the daughter of the late William Taylor Harbst and Mary (Corson) Harbst.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Stringer of State College and Mrs. Clarence (Laura) Moore of Reedsville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel F. Henry Sr., who died on Nov. 20, 2007; five brothers, John E. Harbst, Wilmont T. Harbst, Abraham V. Harbst, David L. Harbst and Paul R. Harbst; four sisters, Nellie Rehmeyer, Yettie Ferguson, Mary Dilling and Laura Rhodes and by a son, Samuel Foster Henry Jr. Verna was the last of her immediate family.

Verna had worked at Gracie's Dress Factory in Reedsville and Cluett Peabody Co. in Lewistown. She also volunteered at Ohesson Manor.

She was a member of the AARP and of Watts United Methodist Church in Belleville.

An avid reader, she loved to work crossword puzzles, was a crafter and sewer and loved flowers.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, June 7, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Milroy, with Pastor Mike Sigler officiating. There will be no public viewing.

The burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
