NEWPORT – Vernon A. Saucier, Sr., 65, died August 24, 2010 at his Newport Inn residence.

He was born April 29, 1945 in Easton a son of Aurelle and Gloria (King) Saucier, Sr.

He retired as a commercial truck driver.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha (Grover) of Newport; 4 sons, Vernon, Jr. and wife Sue, also of Newport, Richard of Freeport, Bradley and wife Kathleen of Windham, and Dale and wife Laura of Dover-Foxcroft. 2 daughters, Leah and husband Peter McKinney of Greenbush, and Heidi and husband Brenton Belanger of VA; 1 brother Aurelle Saucier, Jr.and wife LaBelle of Belize; 2 sisters, Shirley and husband Leonard of FL, and Charlene of AZ; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Vernon was loved and respected by all.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 28th, at the Howland Baptist Church, Penobscot Valley Avenue, Howland, where his nephew Jared will preside. At his request, a celebration will be held after the memorial service. Burial will be at 1 PM at Howland Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Vernon in this way, please join us for this potluck celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
