About Vicente P. Rufino
Vicente Rufino, in his youth, was the King Consort to the 1926 Manila Carnival Queen. He was among the incorporators of the Eastern Theatrical Company in 1934, which was engaged in the operating theaters, opera houses, and places of amusement, such as the Lyric and Capitol Theaters in Manila. With his 3 siblings (Ernesto, Rafael & Ester), Vicente established the Capitol & Lyric theatres (on Escolta), the Avenue, State & EVER (acronym of the 4 siblings’ names) theatres on Rizal Ave., and the Rizal, Magallanes and QUAD theatres in Makati. The brothers co-founded the Philippine Bank of Commerce, and Security Bank and Trust Co.

PANTANGCO-RUFINO: A daughter of the Pantangco couple, Mercedes married Macario Santos Rufino. They established the Capitol and Lyric theaters in the Escolta, The Avenue, State, and EVER theaters in Rizal Avenue. When the Ayalas were developing Makati in the 1960s, they established the then very modern Rizal, Magallanes, and QUAD theaters. The theater EVER is an acronym of Macario and Mercedes Rufinos children names: Ernesto, Vicente, Ester, and Rafael
