Vincent Albert McCarthy

Seneca- Vincent A. McCarthy, 88, husband of Peggy Hamrick McCarthy, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at Oconee Medical Center.

Born in Clark, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Albert Dennis and Anna Brummer McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy was a retired firefighter for Los Angeles County. He was a member and past President of Rotary International, the Knights of Columbus, and also a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Mr. McCarthy was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.

Survivors in addition to his wife Peggy include sons, Joe (Cindi) of LaVerne, CA, Myron (Lisa) of San Bernardino, CA, and step-son Scott Green of Seneca, SC; daughters Cecilia (Mike) Pianalto of Alta Loma, CA, Teresa Mendenhall of Hesperia, CA, Becki Payne of Parker, AZ, and step-daughter Beth Mixson of Fountain Inn, SC; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by first wife Jo Ann and daughter Roberta McCarthy; brothers, Homer, Donald, John, Robert, and Ray McCarthy; and sister, Maxine Coyne.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 23rd at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
