About Vincent J. Scully

Excerpts from his obituary:

"...Vin was raised in Wethersfield where he graduated from Immaculate Conception School and Wethersfield High School. He furthered his education at Fairfield University where he received his BA in History in 1958 and was very active in their alumni association, helping plan many reunion weekends at the college. He was immensely proud that Pope Francis, who blessed rosary beads for him while he was sick, is a Jesuit.

Vin and Nanci moved to Windsor in 1965 where he immediately became involved in his new town. He and his father operated Scully Motors, a landmark Chrysler/ Plymouth Dealership on Poquonock Avenue in Windsor, until his retirement. Vinny and his families' dealership were well known for the many athletic teams they sponsored and supported over the years as well as various Windsor community events, especially the Shad Derby Festival. Scully Motors sponsored over 30 Queen Candidates and Vin served as the Derby Chairman and Grand Marshall of the parade. Vin loved to talk about his Irish heritage and it paid off in 2001, when he was named Windsor Irishman of the Year. Vin was an avid golfer, starting out as a caddy at Wethersfield Country Club. He later became a member and served as golf chairman as well as president. Vin loved to drive especially to see his grandchildren. If someone needed a ride, Grampy was there. If any were playing in sporting events, Grampy was their number one fan. Vincent Scully was sustained in life by his faith and love of family, golf, and community."
