Viola Florence Nelson

Viola Nelson passed away September 6, 2011 at the age of 89 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Nelson who went to Glory on February 24, 2009. She will certainly be missed by her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren. Viola went to Nigeria as a single missionary in 1945, learned Hausa, and worked as a nurse in the Salka area. In 1953, she married Charles and they returned to Nigeria where she continued her work in a dispensary and taught in the bible school in Mokwa and Share. They returned to Didsbury to pastor the Mountain View Church for 10 years and retired to Sundre in 1987 where Viola and Charles did volunteer work in the community. Memorial services were held on Sunday September 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the McDougal Church, Sundre with Pastor Kent Janz officiating.
