Viola Pacovsky

Viola (Pacovsky) Bruns, 93, entered her new life at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

She was formerly from Glenville but had spent most of her adult life in Eldon, Iowa. She had recently moved to Ottumwa to a nursing home in Colombus Junction, Iowa.

Viola was born on Nov. 26, 1919, in Glenville, to John and Celia (Kral) Pacovsky. On Oct. 17, 1947, she married Oscar Bruns in Albert Lea. She had worked for North-Western Bell Telephone Co. in Albert Lea before moving with her husband to Eldon, Iowa, where she worked for the city of Eldon until her retirement in 1978.

Survivors include one son, James and wife, Carla, of Columbus Junction, Iowa; one daughter Marcia of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren, one step-grandson, four great-grandchilren, three step-great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Joe of Glenville and John of Austin.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, three brothers, Charley, Louis, Clifford and sister Blanche. Her wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville, with the Rev. Jerald Loper presiding.
