Wait Bemis, son of Joel, a native of Spencer, Mass., came to Lyndon, abo ut 1796, and settled on Bemis Hill, where Alfred and Arnold Bemis now resi de. He died in 1850, aged seventy-seven years He married Relief Myers, a nd reared eight children, viz.: Nancy, Hiram, Relief, Samuel, Benjamin A ., Otis, Lucius and Emery. The last mentioned married Cordelia Stockwel l, and resides on road 27, where he has lived thirty-three years.
