WALTER BOOTH BROOKS, III of Palm Beach, died March 31. Born August 2, 1914, Mr. Brooks is the son of Walter B. Brooks, Jr, and Louise Cromwell Brooks, and heir to the fortune left by his grandmother, Mrs. Edward T. Stotesbury, who paced Palm Beach society for two decades. He is the onetime stepson of General Douglas MacArthur and was married to actress Julie Bishop, 1936 – 1939, and Mary Amelia Rogers, the daughter of Will Rogers, 1950 – 1952.
He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAFR during World War II and founder and President of International Crest Inc. He was active in the civic and social life of Palm Beach. Mr. Books is survived by his wife, Tanya; son, Walter, IV; and daughter, Laurelle. His ashes will be interred at St. Thomas Church, Green Springs Valley, Maryland. Donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Gulfstream Council.
