Walter David Ritenour, 72, died at his home Monday, February 5, 1956 near Buckton, Warren County, Virginia. Mr. Ritenour was the son of the late William H. Ritenour and Virginia Andrews Ritenour. His parents are buried in the Frederick Cemetery off of Strasburg Road near Passage Creek. He was employed by Southern Railways for 32 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Lee Ritenour; two sons, Woodrow Ritenour of Buckton and Adam Ritenour of Fredericksburg; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Ritenour America, Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Dorothy Embrey of Salma near Fredericksburg, VA; fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also a brother, Joseph of Tye River, VA; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Robinson and Mrs. Alice Smith of Buckton and a half brother Raymond Ritenour.
Funeral services were held at the Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. A.W. Ayers on Wednesday, February 7, 1956. Internment was in Mitchell Cemetery at Buckton.
Pallbearers were Turner Catlett,Marvin Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Carl Santmyers, Jack Santmyers, and Marvin Andrews.
