From "PARTIAL INDEX OF NAMES AND NICKNAMES IN THE HASTERLIK, HINE AND WOLFF FAMILY PAPERS to 1950":
The Hine Collection, at Florida State University, contains a letter dated March 12, 1939 saying, "Did you know uncle Walter has died? Do you have his address? W.ST. Greens Court, Queens Way I London W2."
Giulia Hine nee Koritschoner, donor of the collection, recalls Walter Stoerk in an oral history interview: "Beyond our apartment was another one and a very good friend of my family with his wife used that in the summer as a summer place. He was the director of a big bank I think, anyhow a big cheese. It turned out later I found out he had been Julius' banker. He was grey haired and very sweet and nice and very friendly to me, but what fascinated me was he played chamber music as a hobby. He brought quartets in the summer. He played the cello but the others played the violin etc. It was beautiful in the summer when the windows were open. Very often there was this music coming out of Walter Stoerk's place - when one came into the backyard from the gate was a round bed of roses, an oval bed of roses."
A Feb. 22, 1939 letter in the collection says "Franz Singer wrote Mia that Walter Stoerk died in London a few days ago. He had walked into a store to buy something when he felt ill and asked the door man for a chair from which he never rose again. Heart attack. Address Frida Stoerk, c/o Paul Singer, 37 Redington Rd, N.W. 3 London."
