About Walter Turnowsky
Walter Turnowsky (1897–1959), Austrian-born Palestinian Jewish and Israeli artist, bookseller, and publisher.
Walter Turnowsky was born in Bielitz (see sources). He fought in WW1 and moved to Palestine in 1925. According to Walter's daughter Mirjam, Walter Turnowsky married twice. From his first marriage to Grete Pinner he had 2 girls, Mirjam, born 1922 and Rachel (aka Rahel), born 1924. From his 2nd marriage to Hede Stern he had 1 boy Dan-Joseph (according to his daughter Mirjam). This may be a typing error as Dan Toren is recorded elsewhere. The boy was born in 1930 and so would have been a half brother to Mirjam and Rachel.
