About Warren Heil

Warren A. Heil Jr. of Elmhurst Twp. died Friday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born June 5, 1983, in Scranton, he was the son of Warren A. Sr. and Gail A. (Harrington) Heil of Elmhurst Twp. Warren was a 2001 graduate of North Pocono High School and a graduate of Albright College in Reading. He received bachelor's degrees in math, religious studies and special education and completed his master's in education. Before his illness, Warren was employed as the office manager of BNT Moving Co. LLC and was previously hired as manager of the convenient mart at Bill's Shoprite in Daleville. He also taught mathematics in schools in Ocean City, Md., and Reading, Pa., before moving back home.

Warren was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Scranton. He loved church and his Lord and Savior as much as he loved his family. With God's guiding hand, he became a delegate to former Wyoming Conference at the age of 12. He continued to be a delegate through the merger into the Susquehanna Conference. As God led him on his journey, he quickly became a delegate, not only on the Northeast Jurisdictional Conference level, but as well as the United Methodist Church General Conference, which brought people from around the world together.

Warren was a member of the Covington Independent Volunteer Fire Company and the Spring Brook Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a member of the Lackawanna County Fire Police, the Northeast PA Volunteer Fireman's Federation, where he served as a treasurer, and a member of Six County Fireman's Association. In his youth, Warren was a Boy Scout with Pack 132 and a member of the Order of the Arrow.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sister, TerriAnn Heil, of Elmhurst Twp., his uncle, Lydon Heil and wife, Pat, Taylor; and cousins.

Warren was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Elaine Harrington, and Francis and Rosemary Heil; aunt, Mary Kaye LaCoe, and uncle, David Harrington.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. in the Daleville United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Richard Clark, Pastor Eric Luczak, the Rev. Jean Blackie, Rev. Ginger Daubenhauser, Pastor John Craig and Pastor Debbie Loessy with interment and fireman honors to follow at Madison Union Cemetery, Madison Twp., Pa.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 2:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Delaware Street and Monsey Avenue, Scranton, Pa., and Friday at the Daleville United Methodist Church, Route 435, Covington Twp., Pa., from 4 until 8:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family c/o 103 Simerson Road Elmhurst Twp., PA 18444, or donor's choice in memory.
