About Warren Smith
NOTE: Amanda Melissa Barnes married two different men both of which were named Warren Smith. Do not merge the two Warren Smiths together.
Warren Smith (1808 - 1885), son of Charles Smith and Rachel Warren, was born near Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee on 20 October 1808. He married Lydia Alexander, daughter of Randall and Maria Alexander, in 1830 at Weakley County, Tennessee. They had five children. In May 1840, he married Amanda Barnes Smith (widow of another Warren Smith) at Nauvoo, Illinois. Amanda had four children from her previous marriage; she and Warren Smith had three children together before divorcing. He had three additional plural wives.
Warren Smith came to Utah in September 1850 as the captain of his own company. He went to Carson City, Nevada, where he lived 20 years, returning to Utah in 1874. He died at the age of 76 on 12 May 1884 at American Fork, Utah County, Utah Territory.
