Wayne Wohlgemuth

Wayne Wohlgemuth was born at St. Boniface, Manitoba, on July 16, 1944, to John and Helena Hiebert Wohlgemuth. He passed from this life in a truck accident near Grande Cache, Alberta, on March 11, 1997, reaching the age of fifty-two.

At age six he moved with his parents to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Four years later, at age ten, they moved to Crooked Creek, Alberta. At age twelve he felt the call of God. Upon his confession of faith he was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on October 28, 1956. Through the tests and struggles of Christian life, Dad endeavored to keep his heart pure and his way open with his fellowmen. The last few months are especially dear in our memories as Dad responded to God's call to a closer walk with Him. And even now, as our hearts are sorrowful, we trust in God who has called him home. On a trip south to visit friends and relatives, Wayne met his life's companion, Linda Hughes, of Fredonia, Kansas. They were married on August 25, 1968, sharing life's joys and sorrows for over twenty-eight years. To this union were born eleven children - five sons and six daughters, two of them preceding him in death in their infancy.

Left to mourn his passing are: his dear wife, Linda; his mother-in-law, Martha Hughes, Fredonia, Kansas; his children: Ron, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Sheryl, Montezuma, Kansas; Martha and Rick Isaac, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Lucille, presently serving in Guatemala; Sharon, Charlene, Dwight, Warren, and Kenneth, of the home; two grandchildren; also five brothers and six sisters: David and Matilda; Maryana and Irvin Thiessen; William and Matilda, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Stella and Howard Long, Winfield, British Columbia; Alen and Ella, Crooked Creek, Alberta; Alfred and Grace, Elma, Manitoba; Tina and Dennis Toews, presently serving in Mozambique, Africa; Lena and Melvin Thiessen, Grande Prairie, Alberta; Herbert and Verna; and Lillian and Dennis Thiessen, Crooked Creek, Alberta; and Elaine Rozon, Grande Prairie, Alberta; and by special association, Jack and Marion Bignold and family; the Hughes family; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, his father-in-law, one brother, and one sister-in-law. Funeral services were held on March 15, 1997, at the Rosedale Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Crooked Creek, Alberta. Ministers Adin Klassen, Lorne Thiessen, and Trevor Penner were in charge. Burial was in the Rosedale Cemetery, Crooked Creek, Alberta.
