FATHER OF NINE KILLED ON BICYCLE POLICE CHARGE DRIVER AS DRUNK
A Mennonite father of nine was struck and killed on East Earl Road, Friday afternoon while riding his bicycle, by a man, police charged with drunk driving.
Weaver M. Nolt, 52, an Old Order Mennonite farmer, of New Holland R2. was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:50 p.m. by Lancaster County deputy coroner Dr.Vincent Walsh, said East Earl Police Chief Charles Steiner.
Arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of alcohol was Danny Brill, 22, Narvon R2. Steiner said. The chief said Brill's blood alcohol level was .284. A driver is considered to be under the influence of intoxicants if his blood alcohol level is .10 or greater.
The accident happened near the entrance to the New Holland Concrete plant and just one-quarter of a mile from Nolt's home. His wife and daughter were on the scene within minutes, Steiner said.
