The Morristown Gazette
We understand that the young man, Newton Willis, who killed Wesley Ferrell in Lee Valley, Hawkins county a week or two ago, was entirely justifiable in the act. Ferrell was a dangerous man and had made fearful threats to kill Willis and was prepared to carry out his threats when he was himself shot down.

The Morristown Gazette
A Rogersville correspondent to the Knoxville Tribune, under date of the 15th, reports another homicide in Hawkins county, recently. Newt. Willis, a young man who had earned the reputation of a desperado, was killed by a man named Mayabb (aka George Mabe). Mayabb has not been arrested. The killing was regarded not only as justifiable, but as a thing not at all surprising to any one acquainted with the victim.
