Wessel 'Boetie' Badenhorst (1953 - 2009)

Brief overview:

Wessel (55) was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the chest, in his farmhouse on 10th March 2009. Shortly after 7am, a neighbour said they found Wessel lying on the kitchen floor. The perpetrators broke open a door to gain access to the home, Insp. Police spokesperson Wilmarie van der Merwe said. A cartridge cap of a 9 mm pistol was found at the scene. Farm workers suspected foul play when Badenhorst did not show up at the dairy barn. Only Badenhorst's Isuzu pickup truck was missing. He lived alone on the farm where he was born and grew up, Johnny van Biljon, a lifelong friend, said. According to Van Biljon, he is survived by a brother and a sister. Police do not yet know how many attackers there were, or exactly what time he was murdered. No one apparently saw or heard anything on the farm.
