Wilbert "Bo Bird" Howard

Wilbert "Bo" Howard died peacefully at the age of 88, at his home in Deer Head, AL, on July 11, 2017. Wilbert, better known as "Bo" or "Bo Bird" by his friends and family, leaves behind a treasure trove of friends and family, including the "Love of his life", his beloved wife of 63 years, Virginia Sellers Howard (Jennie). Bo worked as a carpenter in the construction industry and retired from Carpenter's Local 89 in Mobile, AL. He was the son of Laymon (Dick) Howard and Viola Knapp Howard. He was the oldest of nine children.

Bo was born and raised in Washington County in the small , rural community of Howardtown. He attended grade school in the little community school named Howard School. He often joked that he graduated from Howard University. Bo's hobbies included hunting, fishing, farming and telling "tall tales" over a hot cup of coffee with friends and family. His life was full of interesting events and stories that he enjoyed sharing in his native "Howardtown Dialect." He often held a captive audience from his favorite recliner and enjoyed nothing more than poking fun at his beautiful bride. Jennie describes him best with, "To know him was to love him."

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 10-11:00 AM, Howardtown Baptist Church, with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be at Howardtown Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Phillip Howard and Rev. Edward Howard with St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
